As a former coach house for a stately home in Devon, this project showcases our full range of services from concept through to construction.
The work centered on restoring centuries-old stone walls to their former glory using traditional lime masonry techniques and oak panelling. Cramped passages and old sheds became a light-filled atriums that showcase the original architectural heritage.
The removal of the first floor landing and installation of a custom oak staircase and a Juliet balcony creates a dramatic triple-height entrance. The disused ground floor stables were converted into ensuite bedrooms made possible by structural repairs to the retaining walls and floor slab.
The project’s construction techniques focused on authenticity, using traditional lime mortaring to repair stone walls and carefully restoring original arch windows and stable doors. This project demonstrates how forgotten spaces can become memorable architecture.
